It wouldn’t be a healthy Friday without Cinco Bala. This weeks top 5 lessons, hacks and quotes I’ve been pondering, applying and battling.
For those of you who are new, this is a concept I took from Tim Ferriss. (This is just focused on MLM and online marketing) If you don’t subscribe to his newsletter. You should do it.
Lessons in Online Marketing: Don’t Stress About Being Broke – We’ve had many ups and downs in our business but one thing always rings true.
God has a plan and He meets all of our needs.
Not long ago our business hit a wall. All of our ads got shut down and we realized we needed to completely retool our System.
Not only was our traffic at zero…
But we could no longer fulfill on our product until we revamped it.
It was a scary time and we had to seriously consider what it would be like if we had to start dipping into savings.
How far would we go?
Should we start taking on odd jobs as a freelancer to pay the bills?
What would it be like if we had to get a job again?
After a lot of thought, mental ping pong and prayer we came up with a plan and decided to completely refocus our attention on our CORE business, NOT on side gigs, freelance jobs or ANYTHING else.
Within weeks we booked enough business to cover 5 months or more of expenses… (God thing)
We put everything back in the bank we “borrowed” from ourselves and padded multiple months of income.
Then… it happened again.
We had to take off MULTIPLE months from actively making sales and recruiting so we could beef up the back end of our company.
Except this time….
I wasn’t that scared.
I knew that while we were spending tons of money without making any new money… (something that would typically stress me out)
Once we launched our new funnel, we’d make up for everything we spent and then some.
And when we did, we made more in 3 months than we did the entire previous year.
See, when you play a scalable game like “online marketing” you can compress time with your offer and your cash flow works differently than an hourly wage.
…Or even your MLM residual check…
You could go months or years with zero or low income and then…
BOOM
A year’s salary in 5 days.
So don’t stress that much. It’ll come around.
 Lesson in Network Marketing: How To Use Funnels To Sell MLM Products – MLM company’s replicated websites are good at one thing…
Taking orders.
But they’re TERRIBLE at creating sales.
We both know you can’t rely on your replicated site to do anything besides process the order.
So, you need a funnel to create influence and make the sale happen.
But also how to sell your MLM products to the freezing, cold market with ads WITHOUT tripping over your company’s rules or being “the same” as everyone else in your company…
Quote I Love: Don’t Explain Your Philosophy. Embody It.
A Realization: Progress = Happiness.
Before you throw stones. Being content also = happiness. You need a balance of contentedness and progress.
I’m going to focus on progress here.
As Alex Charfen says, the entrepreneurial personality type thrives on “momentum” in order to feel happy.
People like us don’t really feel joy, sadness or anger the way the rest of the world does.
We feel momentum or lack of momentum. If we have momentum or progress in our lives, we feel happy. If we don’t – we’re angry and sad.
This is why so many MLMers and sales people “seem happy”.
It’s because they feel like they’re “making progress”.
(Now, that’s a curse and a blessing. Because sometimes you can “feel” like you’re progressing and be happy but not actually moving forward.)
But back to the point, they’re happy because they “feel” like they’re growing.
Show me someone unhappy and I’ll show you someone who is not growing in some area of their life.
Bottom line – If you feel stuck, I can almost guarantee it’s because you’re not growing in the area you’re passionate about.
You already know what you need to do.
Just do it.
The happiness follows.
 A Recent Obsession (Again): Espresso – The first thing on my mind when we got to Michigan for Christmas was ripping through storage to find my espresso machine.
Volunteering at our church’s cafe has me obsessed about making good coffee again.
(Not to mention buying an exorbitant amount of $5.50 cappuccinos from preppy shops)
WTF
Anyway, like a good dog on a bone, I can’t let go of something until I perfect it.
In this case, it has me going to the store for multiple bags of coffee, milk and utensils to make the best latte ever.
…just to taste it and toss it down the drain.
Until we land in a permanent spot like retired nomads, this will have to replace my (more expensive but better) car flipping habit.
