It wouldn’t be a healthy Friday without Cinco Bala. This week’s top 5 lessons, hacks and quotes I’ve been pondering, applying and battling.
For those of you who are new, this is a concept I took from Tim Ferriss. (This is just focused on MLM and online marketing) If you don’t subscribe to his newsletter. You should do it.
Lesson in Network Marketing: Your Prospect is Changing – I recorded a podcast that should be up by the time you read this but here’s the bottom line…
Your prospective clients and reps are not the same people they were 3 weeks ago.
And I don’t mean they’re mindset is different. I mean they’re actually DIFFERENT people.
In many cases, the people who typically buy our stuff and enroll in our team are actually not making as many moves right now.
They’re being a little more careful with their money.
That means that our sales and recruits are down? No. Actually it doesn’t.
Our 6 month average ROAS (return on ad spend) is 3.7X (370%). Meaning for every $1,000 we spend on ads, we get $3700 in return within about a week.
Even with the change, we’re averaging a 360% ROAS. Barely a blip.
How is that possible if our “typical” client isn’t enrolling as often?
Because while the CoronaVirus has pushed some people OUT of eligibility. It has pushed other people IN to eligibility.
In fact, the newest recruits over the past 7 days have been some of the highest functioning humans we’ve had the pleasure of speaking with.
See, the people who have never truly succeeded financially are pulling back right now. They’re listening to the narrative that the media pumps out that the world is ending (no fault of most people at the media btw. They’re just reading what they’re told).
But those who understand that we’re in a CYCLE, understand that they need to PRESS forward right now.
In fact, the average earning power of our newest reps is close to 7 figures/year BEFORE they got on our team.
The virus just made them realize they needed another source of income that was location independent (online) AND residual.
…Oh and people like that aren’t going to build MLM old school btw. So, if you want them, you have to attract them. (Hint: build it like Rebels)
So #1 – Push right now! Don’t pull back. While we aren’t set for the rest of our lives, we could take a LONG time off without working yet we’re pushing. Why? Because he or she who lasts the longest in a pull back SOAKS up the market share of everyone who fell off.
#2 – Realize that your prospect has just changed. Adjust your marketing accordingly. More than ever, it’s time to step into the future and if you haven’t learned how to build like Rebels, it’s time.

Lesson in Online Marketing: Start With Profit: I still come across people occasionally who think that building a brand is somehow the first step to building a solid business. That’s so backwards it’s barely comprehendible.
Honestly, I don’t think anyone really believes that. The only reason someone is convinced of that is because they read some slick marketing about why you should build a brand first.
No.
First you need to make money. Then you build a brand.
I’ll let you know right now – ALL of your decisions become easier when you have cash coming in every day. But you start penny pinching and making stupid short term choices when you’re not sure how you’re gonna buy food.
The #1 skill you need to learn NOW in online business is direct response marketing.
You need to learn how to transform $1 into $2 at will.
If you can do that, you’ll have enough money to fix your branding problem.
And you’ll be able to outlast any algorithm or platform change that’s thrown at you.
(Don’t get me wrong, I believe in branding. Don’t throw stones. But you have to pick one to do first.
And I choose profit.)
A Reminder: This goes in line with the above lesson on direct response marketing…
“If you have enough money to fix the problem, you don’t have a problem.”
Think on that until it sinks in.

Bonus Network Marketing Lesson: The REAL Numbers – “Get 2 who get 2 who get 2”…
That’s the promise of nearly every MLM company or upline on the planet.
And it’s ass backwards.
Completely and utterly wrong.
A borderline lie.
I can say it because I’ve told it without fully internalizing what I’ve said.
Here’s the reality:
It takes about 100-120 PERSONAL registrants to find 2-3 REALLY good people…
What we call “leaders” – These are people that will go on to make 6 figures in the industry.
So if you need 3 big legs (or lines) to hit your goal, you actually need 3 six-figure earners placed properly.
And to do that you don’t sponsor 4 and mother-hen them until they explode. (They’ll probably quit)
You do that by putting the law of numbers in your favor and treating this like an actual company. Not some fairy tale.
Here’s the stats:
You sponsor 100…
30-ish will quit within a month.
30-ish will “incubate” – meaning they’ll be on autoship and lie to you. They’ll tell you they’re going to build the business but never will. Many of these will quit too but if you know how to retain people you can keep them – Which is a good idea.
30-ish will build in some capacity. They’ll sponsor 1-4 people.
And 2-3 will become a “leader”. They will be responsible for the MASS MAJORITY of your business.
So instead of perpetuating the fairy tale, we must recognize that the reason most people don’t make a fortune is because they treat this like the lottery instead of a company like a grown up.
You NEED to sponsor 80-120 reps PERSONALLY in order to crack 6 figures in MLM.
Once I realized that, I knew I couldn’t do the old school crap traditional MLM told me to do.
Even if I continued chewing on glass with it, the BEST recruiters were only sponsoring 1-3 per month in the cold market (warm market doesn’t count because it runs out)
That means that it’d take me a MINIMUM of 40 months just to sponsor 120 people. And I’d hate my life the whole time.
No thanks. I’d rather stay home and build a system that gave me 10-30 reps a month and shortcut that process.
So, don’t believe the lie. Don’t tell the lie and put a system in place that can bring predictability and happiness to your life.
