Remember when Neo woke up?
He was just unplugged from The Matrix and Morpheus welcomed him to the real world.
He’d been living in a mirage, a dim colored illusion that contained people, jobs and family yet it lacked…
Life.
After waking up he quickly realized that this “real world” while invigorating was actually…
A lot worse than the simulated reality he left behind.
This is what traditional MLM feels like to me.
The first time I saw the “O’s” get drawn on the board at my first hotel meeting I was mesmerized. It felt like I was just unplugged.
I walked around for the next few years staring in amazement at people’s blindness.
How could they be so blind to not see that they were a part of a big corporate machine that siphoned their best years and gave them so little in return?
How could they continue to waste their 20’s, 30’s, 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and 70’s making someone else rich while they slowly decayed in quiet desperation?
Why couldn’t they wake up?
To this day, I still don’t know why some people choose to avoid death at all costs yet never choose to live.
When I was unplugged from the “matrix” of corporate America and selling my soul for a paycheck I thought I was free…
But the next 6 years showed me I wasn’t. I was in the real world now.
At least that’s what I thought.
I was in another matrix.
I exchanged my first simulation for a new one.
The beauty of the “MLM matrix” is that we can throw stones at the job people and say “At least I’ll be free one day! At least I’m chasing my dreams!”
It’s a perfect ruse within a ruse.
Here’s the deal – The matrix inside of MLM is this: “Follow the proven path to success.”
Seems harmless. (The best illusions do).
But doesn’t that sound a lot like college billboards? “A proven path to success?” More like a proven path to massive student loans, no promise of a lucrative career and zero financial education.
As such with MLM. The “proven path” I was sold was… hit up all my family and friends, cold contact strangers and show 3-5 presentations per week at Starbucks or hotels.
And if things got REAL FANCY we’d do zoom meetings. Classy.
Problem was the latest testimony of this “proven” path was in 2005.
Facebook just broke away from catering only to college students, Instagram was non-existent and YouTube was for nerds.
Here I was following “proven paths” that were built between 1960 and 1980 and none of us stopped to consider if the world had changed…
After 6 years of this, I finally got extremely, royally,
MAD.
ANGRY.
And I yanked that stupid umbilical cord from the back of my neck and exited the matrix.
Again…
(Except I didn’t yank it. It was a slow, arduous removal process.)
Regardless, I found myself in the real world. Without blinders, shades or limiting beliefs to taint my vision.
I decided I would burn the garbage put in my head about not being able to build MLM online.
I would delete the limiting beliefs that said, “I had to attain success with the ‘proven’ system before I could break the rules.”
I’d trust in ME and God instead of the almighty upline.
Over the next three years we developed marketing strategies for 20 different industries and brought our learnings BACK TO MLM.
And you know what?
We were right.
In fact, we’ve personally recruited more people in ONE day than in the combined TOTAL of my BEST year in the first MLM.
…And in the first MLM we were recognized on stage as being in the top 5% of recruiters in the largest MLM company in history.
We also made more in ONE week than I did in my entire second year in MLM and corporate America combined.
That’s called a wake up call.
And now it’s time for you to get unplugged.
