It wouldn’t be a healthy Friday without Cinco Bala. This week’s top 5 lessons, hacks and quotes I’ve been pondering, applying and battling.
For those of you who are new, this is a concept I took from Tim Ferriss. (This is just focused on MLM and online marketing) If you don’t subscribe to his newsletter. You should do it.
Lesson in Network Marketing: Don’t Cash Out Your Investments – A common piece of advice in (low level) business owners is to “burn your ships.”
Meaning intentionally burn ALL your bridges behind you so that you have NO back up plan if your business fails. They liken the story to the old war general who ordered his soldiers to burn their ships when they arrived on the foreign soil. The soldiers no longer had a way home. The HAD TO WIN.
A powerful analogy. And one that should be used. However, it is constantly taken way too far in network marketing.
Most notably in the form of intentionally making ZERO advancement in the corporate world AND cashing out investment accounts to invest in their MLM business BEFORE the business is producing decent cash flow.
I got so animated about this topic that I recorded a podcast about it.
But I’ll spoil the surprise.
Give your business EVERYTHING you’ve got but DO NOT hurt your future self by sacrificing your relationships, health or current investments while giving it everything.
Unless of course you want to sacrifice your health and relationships for money only to spend all your money getting your health back and hunting down new relationships…
Lesson in Online Marketing: Sell It First – So many people try to create these whiz bang funnels that have contingencies for every single thing that could happen…
What happens if someone clicks on this but doesn’t buy that?
What if someone buys but doesn’t join that list?
The what ifs NEVER end and they’ll spend weeks or months planning for every single scenario only to find out that their funnel DOES NOT SELL.
Here’s a crazy reality – If your funnel doesn’t sell, does it matter how well it works?
Obviously not.
So before you attempt to automate every single little thing and write every single email and plan for every single contingency…
Make sure people want to buy what you’ve got.
THEN spend the time making things fancy.
To be honest, we STILL have things in some of our funnels that are not squeaky clean. Things that should be done automatically that are not.
That’s because we focus on sales and serving our customers / reps. The fancy stuff comes AFTER serving people and eating.
Quote I Love: “It never ceases to amaze me: we all love ourselves more than other people, but care more about their opinion than our own.” – Marcus Aurelius
Another Quote I love: “It’s quite impossible to unite happiness with a yearning for what we don’t have.”
Which comes from…
Book I’m Re-Reading: The Daily Stoic – Stoicism is not what it sounds like. It’s not some stone faced bald guy, immovable in emotion. Stoicism is not a religion or form of worship.
It’s a mental operating system.
I’ve found it incredibly useful to “see” my emotions as they arise and select them before they take hold of me. I’m Christian and I believe God designed us to have full control of our minds. I can see worry or negativity as it arises and decide to accept it or not. I’m not perfect at it but I’m learning.
Regardless of your faith background, this is one of the best “mental” game plans I’ve used.
Talk soon,
Still building with personal conversations (online or offline) while transitioning into automation? That’s ok. I did it for years. In fact, I used this “Perfect MLM Script” to sponsor over 120 personal reps and still give it to everyone that gets on my team.
I’ve just arranged to “give” this script out to the next 10,000 networkers who take advantage of it, for just the cost of payment processing.
