It wouldn’t be a healthy Friday without Cinco Bala. This weeks top 5 lessons, hacks and quotes I’ve been pondering, applying and battling.
For those of you who are new, this is a concept I took from Tim Ferriss. (This is just focused on MLM and online marketing) If you don’t subscribe to his newsletter. You should do it.
Lesson in Online Marketing: Don’t Extract Without Adding –Wouldn’t it be awesome to catch the attention of your biggest idols in business and life?
Can you imagine what ONE email from a massive guru could do for your business?
Imagine if you had Tony Robbins email his list and promote your product…
Can fathom what would happen?
Well here’s how you catch their attention in a way you DON’T want.
Try to extract value from them without adding.
This happens ALL the time and let me tell you, people remember.
If you want to be a player in your industry, you have to add value before asking for something in return.
Here’s my top level recommendation for you…
If you’re trying to establish a relationship with a “guru” or someone big in your industry, here’s a couple ground rules:
– Buy their products. No one feels good about being taken advantage of. And I promise you that this will happen if you don’t.
– Write them honest and heartfelt testimonials.
– Comment and follow them on their active social channels.
Basically, be their biggest fan, user and success story.
Case in point, I want to continue establishing a relationship with someone I value in the marketing space. So I bought a VIP ticket to his event, knowing full well that I probably couldn’t make it.
I’m not crazy enough to think that he’ll want to continue spending time with me if I try siphoning from him while not adding in return.
Another guru invited us to a private party in Iceland. WHAT?! – I mean that’s cool but I don’t really want to go to Iceland and spend all that time and money.
But you know what? We’re going.
Why?
Because I’m adding value TO him before asking for anything in return.
Violate this at your own risk.
