It wouldn’t be a healthy Friday without Cinco Bala. This weeks top 5 lessons, hacks and quotes I’ve been pondering, applying and battling.
For those of you who are new, this is a concept I took from Tim Ferriss. (This is just focused on MLM and online marketing) If you don’t subscribe to his newsletter. You should do it.
Lessons in Online Marketing: Forget But Remember Your Value Ladder – That’s confusing, right? Well, forgetting your value ladder in the beginning of your online marketing journey is imperative to making ONE thing work.
So many people try to have a complex funnel working before ONE thing works.
How do you know if one thing works? Your bank account.
Once your bank account tells you ONE thing is working, you expand your value ladder.
Honestly, this is one of the BEST examples I’ve seen of someone handling this process correctly.
Weirdly enough, the example came in the form of a street food slinger…
… In Iceland.
Lesson in Network Marketing: Handle Objections – No matter what your upline says, you are in sales. Yes you are a consultant helping your prospects make the best decision for THEM but at the end of the day, that’s what sales is.
It’s helping qualified prospects find and use the service that will fix their problems.
Most people think sales is pushing a service on someone regardless of their qualification or need for it.
Negatory. It’s simply being a matchmaker.
Now to be an effective matchmaker, you need to lead the prospect through their LACK OF INSIGHT. Insight that you have as an expert in the field of their need.
Many times that takes the form of “handling objections”.
This past week I shared on one of team calls how to handle these situations without saying stupid things like “Aside from money, is there any other reason you’re not signing up?” SMH
That kind of elementary verbiage is for entry level sales people who don’t know how to use their INSIGHT to INFLUENCE.
Well, thankfully that team call was recorded and I decided to let you listen to it on the MLM Rebels Podcast. You can listen to it here.
Quote I Love: “Sometimes even to live is an act of courage…”
Travel Hack: The Two Best Credit Cards for Travel – I talked about this a couple months ago but I’ve had LOTS of conversations about this since then. Thought it’d be good to bring it up again…
It took me way too long to realize this one. I don’t believe in consumer debt at all but I do believe in maximizing potential.
After traveling full time for nearly 10 months, I can say that this is probably the most significant perk we’ve taken advantage of.
Because of using the right credit cards for purchases we would have made anyway, we’ve paid for business events, trips and even the majority of our travels to Iceland.
If you want the full skinny, watch this video. If you ever plan on traveling as a full time nomad, this will be insanely valuable.
Additional Lesson in Network Marketing: No One Cares –No one cares about your comp plan. Especially if they’re not in MLM yet. You realize that almost everyone says that their comp plan is the best right? At this stage in the game, almost every comp plan has very strong points and a few weak points. Almost none of them totally suck. (except some matrix plans)
At this point, we have customers in almost every major MLM company in existence. Not only that but I nerd out on reading companies comp plans and I can tell you first hand that even the binaries I was told to burn at the stake actually have some strong points.
Now I have my preferences, but it’s not accurate in almost any case to say you have the “best comp plan.” The word “best” implies you have a clear definition to measure it by.
Meaning, you CAN say “Our comp plan pays you better than any other one IN A SPECIFIC AREA.” Such as retail profit etc.
However, the real lesson here is not to measure the plans. The real lesson is that your prospect DOES NOT care if it’s better than the next one over.
They care if YOU + THE PLAN + YOUR marketing system can get them to their goals.
They care a lot more about their vision than the company’s slick differential pay structure.
If someone paid you or I $1000 to pick up dog poop for 5 minutes, would you do it? Probably. Why? Because the result is HUGE for the time invested.
Prospects about the result MORE than the process…
Now if you want to learn how I evaluate a company for potential clients, read this.
Two warnings:
One: This is going to dig deep. Don’t read it if you don’t want to be exposed to potential weak spots in your company.
Two: There is a pitch for my MLM company on the LAST page. You can disregard it if you want. But I don’t want anyone saying I didn’t warn them.

Zach
