It wouldn’t be a healthy Friday without Cinco Bala. This weeks top 5 lessons, hacks and quotes I’ve been pondering, applying and battling.
For those of you who are new, this is a concept I took from Tim Ferriss. (This is just focused on MLM and online marketing) If you don’t subscribe to his newsletter. You should do it.
Lesson in Online Marketing: Visualize Your Goals – THE month we started tracking our revenue on a white board in the office for everyone to see – we started hitting our revenue goals EVERY month.
Literally every month.
Before that, we “took what came to us” – which is not a bad mindset to have as it keeps us psycho-achiever types from crippling anxiety.
But to NOT have goals staring you in the face is a recipe for failure. There is a balance I will admit.
However, what we’ve found is that not having your “CASH IN THE BANK” goal in front of you is a HUGE mistake.
I implore you to get out a giant white board and draw a “progress bar” to fill in as you bring cash in this month.
Make it a stretch but reasonable. It has to be something you can hit without a direct intervention from the Almighty.
If you’ve been making $17 per month, don’t make the goal $5k. Make it $1,000. Then move up each month intelligently.
Since doing this, we’ve literally 10x’d our income and had entire previous years’ worth of income in a single month…
It’s worth it.
Lesson in Network Marketing: Start Before You’re Ready – I spoke with a great guy recently who had a legitimate “why”, the base level skills and a great personality for MLM.
He gave me a verbal confirmation that he was “in”.
But then he decided to not move forward. Not uncommon however he did share with me why he wasn’t getting started – because he wasn’t “mentally ready for when times got tough” and felt he needed to toughen himself up or “wait” until he was “ready”.
In past times, I would have gone into monster overcome objection mode but that’s not how I wanted this cookie to crumble. However I do want to pass this lesson on you to…
You are NEVER ready before you begin a journey. That INCLUDES micro journeys within the macro journey.
You begin and THEN figure it out along the way.
You don’t sit in your garage and wait until all the lights turn green before leaving for work do you?
So why are you trying to figure out all the variables before starting?
Ducks don’t get in a row.
Puzzle pieces do not fall into place.
UNLESS
You get the puzzle box lid and start searching for the pieces.
Meaning you have a vision and take action on it.
Then the pieces have a way of finding you…
Quote I Love: “The Mountains We’re Supposed To Climb Have To Do With Our Character. The Mountains We Should Be Speaking To Have To Do With Our Faith.” – Andre (A prospect and friend)
Book I’m Reading: Connected To Goodness Manifest Everything You Desire In Business And Life – I picked this up after it randomly fell in my mother-in-law’s lap around Christmas time.
Neither of us are “Universe” people. We’re “God” people. (This book is gives credit to the “Universe” rather than God.) However, there is no doubt that this book is insanely valuable.
As you may know, I enjoy reading books that are of a different belief system than mine. I believe it keeps my sword sharp and allows me to have intelligent, non-confrontational conversations with people who have differing beliefs.
Although, I went into this book thinking it’d be a hokey, hippie “manifest” session.
And while it does have some imagination stretching concepts in it, it has already proven to be quite valuable.
I’ve shared the massive success that “visualization” has given us and “manifest” is in many cases – another term for visualizing or “meditating” on something.
My favorite concept of this book is: Rather than working towards climbing the mountain to get the gold ring – “manifest” it and watch it come towards you. This “concept” is exactly what set us on a legitimate track to financial progress a few years ago.
No matter where you fall on the “faith” spectrum, I think this is a great one to add to your arsenal.
Realization: Separate Work and Life – I’ve worked from home in my own business for over 4 years now. I always thought that would be my dream. I HATED going to the office and working for someone else.
And I hated it all the more because I knew I could do the same job at home. I didn’t need to drive in rush hour everyday just to sit in a cube.
I vowed that when I could quit my job, I’d never go to an office again.
Well, in the past 4 years we’ve tried a few major variations of how we work…
First is straight up working from home.
Second is being highly nomadic (moving states or countries every month).
Third is having a separate office.
Each has its pros and cons. But my least favorite is actually working from home. Nomadic life and office life (with your own business) are far superior.
Nomadic life is incredible to see the world while you work. Everyone should try it.
Office life is incredible for high productivity in your own business.
At this stage, we’re blessed to be in a position that we all try to work towards in business – momentum.
One side of me wants to continue being straight up nomads but the productivity cost is pretty high. I’d estimate that you easily spend 20-30% of your mental RAM on figuring out basic logistics when living as nomad – where/what to eat, how to get laundry done, what to do when your credit card doesn’t work etc.
Not to mention the 6-14 hour time difference – which isn’t a big deal with online sales but it does force you to consider very carefully when and IF you ever touch the phone – not something that is conducive to pouring gas on momentum in an MLM business.
We’ve been blessed with that great ‘M’ word right now. We’ve worked for years to get it. At this point, it’d be silly to stifle that momentum with the fully nomadic life.
So, within the next few months, it looks like we’ll semi-permanently settle down in San Diego with a house and separate office. We might pick up the nomadic life again but well do it AFTER the momentum wave.
Plus, if I can help it, I’ll likely never work from home again.

Zach
