It wouldn’t be a healthy Friday without Cinco Bala. This week’s top 5 lessons, hacks and quotes I’ve been pondering, applying and battling.
For those of you who are new, this is a concept I took from Tim Ferriss. (This is just focused on MLM and online marketing) If you don’t subscribe to his newsletter. You should do it.
Lesson in Network Marketing: Don’t Be A Bonsai – Create Unity – There’s one skill that rivals the ability to market in MLM. That is the ability to lead.
Without leadership, you’re barking up the wrong tree. Might as well just be a normal online marketer with no residual income.
See, if you recruit 1,000 people but can’t lead them, they’re going to quit.
And you’re back to square one.
So how do you retain people so you can lead?
Help them make a ton of money.
Help them believe they will make a ton of money someday.
Help them have so much fun they don’t care about 1 or 2.
If you can do one of the three, you’ll retain a lot.
Two of three, you’ll retain more.
Three of three, you’ll be rock solid.
But the FIRST rule of retention is to create unity in your team.
How? Don’t be a bonsai rep.
Now, go listen to the podcast to see what I mean. Lesson in Online Marketing: Diversify Traffic – You must master ONE traffic source before dabbling in others. The litmus test is that your traffic is producing at least a 2x ROAS (return on ad spend) before it’s considered mastered.
We must all remember that ad networks WILL screw you eventually. They don’t care about your $5k/month ad spend. And they don’t care about you if you’re spending $1M a month either.
Even though Facebook is still our best traffic source, we’re constantly testing new avenues.
YouTube is up next. Once we start crushing it on YouTube, we’ll share all of our learnings with the Rebels Recruiting System members at no charge. Nice perk.
Anyway, here’s my first YouTube ad we’ll be testing this week. Big thanks to Nate and Robb for production. I’ll share the results soon.
Quote I Love: “You create stress for yourself because you think you have to.” – Oprah Winfrey
Book I’m Re-Reading: 4 Hour Work Week – I think I’ve read this book at least 4 times cover to cover. I recently told an overworked business owner that I was re-reading it at the office we work from and his response was, “Yea, I read that once. It was a good read.”
He clearly didn’t apply it. Don’t be like him.
I read this book 4 years ago and it changed EVERYTHING. Each time I reread it, I am reminded how immensely valuable it is. If you’re not at 6 figures and you spend more than a few hours a day in your business, you need to reread this now.
Life Update: We’re Moving. Again. – Bullet recap. We traveled for 18 months straight. We settled down with a long term lease and shipped our belongings from Michigan to Cali. 3 weeks later, COVID hits and locks us down.
The rub?
We hate the place we live.
Crap.
The house we rented has an abnormal amount of external noise (Dogs, people, poor construction, road noise etc.) that we’ve never experienced before. Ashley and I are pretty flexible. I mean we’ve slept in random countries with animals making insane noises that we’ve never heard before in the US. We lived in downtown Chicago and sirens became a nighttime relaxation experience.
This beats all of that. And while not impossible to detect beforehand, it was difficult…
And it’s not like we’re in some low level place. The rent here is double what we paid in Chicago. But we accidentally picked one of the worst locations imaginable inside of a very nice area. Whoops.
Either way, this has been by far the biggest thorn in our sides for a few months. We literally don’t like coming home.
Thankfully, due to insane amounts of prayer and the Lord blessing us. We’ve been able to break the 2 year lease after 3 months, find a new renter and pay all the annoying expenses incurred.
We just signed a new lease on a house that is way more suited to us. And as typical in San Diego, the house had monster competition. Once again, God blessed us with favor and got on the good side of the current tenant and she sold us to the landlord like nothing we’ve seen. The landlord said – “You should thank Holly. She’s the one who got you this place.”
Crazy thing is, we were never supposed to meet Holly. We visited the house to meet the landlord and he never showed (calendar mishap). So Holly showed us the house and we became quick friends with her and her kids. She then became our advocate and gave us a direct promotion among the sea of apps. We couldn’t have coordinated it better.
Talk soon,
Zach
