It wouldn’t be a healthy Friday without Cinco Bala. This week’s top 5 lessons, hacks and quotes I’ve been pondering, applying and battling.
For those of you who are new, this is a concept I took from Tim Ferriss. (This is just focused on MLM and online marketing) If you don’t subscribe to his newsletter. You should do it.
Lesson in Network Marketing: Prospect Temperatures – This is not to be confused with traffic temperatures in online marketing.
This is referring to how aware a prospect is regarding your “solution.” If you get this wrong, you’re doomed to fail.
Hot prospect = Problem AND solution aware.
Warm prospect = Problem aware.
Cold prospect = Problem unaware.
If my car gets a flat tire, I know I have a problem – my car won’t move. I am also solution aware – I need a new tire. I am a hot prospect. I will be searching for terms like “Where to get my tire fixed near me”. I am SOLUTION AWARE.
If my car breaks down and I can’t identify what’s wrong – I’m problem aware but NOT solution aware. I am a warm prospect. I will be searching for terms like “Best BMW shops near me.” I am PROBLEM AWARE.
If my car is running poorly but not poorly enough for me to notice, I am completely unaware. I am a cold prospect. I will not be searching for help at all. I can only be reached by “interruption marketing” (Facebook ads, Instagram ads, direct contact etc.)
The issue many networkers have is they pitch their company (solution) to a warm prospect – someone who does NOT yet believe that network marketing is their solution.
The ONLY person you should pitch your company to is a hot prospect.
In the beginning, you should completely stay away from cold prospects – this is the biggest “pool” but it’s also the pool with the highest room for error. Thus, giving it the biggest place of risk.
You should be spending the majority of your business efforts with warm prospects – these are people who know they have a problem. Example – They want more passive income, more secure retirement, another source of revenue etc. Then you “filter” them based on their desire to see if they are open to the concept of network marketing. If so, now they are hot and you can pitch your system and/or company.
This can all be done automatically with our systems by the way.
Or it can be done manually – which is what we call “old school” or traditional network marketing.
To further drive this home, we personally spend the vast majority of our marketing dollars and efforts with warm or hot prospects.
Bottom line – NO ONE cares about your company, product or opportunity until they’re a “hot” prospect (solution aware). If you’re speaking with warm prospects (problem aware) – your primary job is to sell them on the concept of MLM and THEN your company.

Lesson in Online Marketing: Safety in Scale – I see lots of people try to play it safe in their marketing. Spending $5 a day thinking they can create big growth with it…
Sure, when you’re testing $5 is the right move. Make sure your stuff works before pouring cash in.
But once your stuff does work you MUST scale it.
Realize this – Every single offer has a shelf life. If something is working and is profitable, you have to RIDE THAT PONY until it’s dead.
We have people on our team right now that have profitable campaigns that don’t track their metrics thoroughly. To the point where they didn’t even know their campaigns were profitable.
They’ve been running at low budgets and were starting to get frustrated that they weren’t growing as fast as they’d like. In reality, they could grow 100x faster (seriously) if they just scaled their campaigns.
Craziest part is, they’d make a TON more money too.
Check this out…
If I make 3.7X return on my ad spend (real number), that means if I spend $100 in ads this month I’ll make $370 in return – giving me a $270 profit.
Now that sounds fine and dandy but if I’m not tracking that, it’s very likely that I barely notice that $270 profit in my account. So at the end of the month, I look at my business and say “Hmm, I spent $100 and only sponsored one person and didn’t really make anything.”
I get discouraged and maybe keep pushing… maybe not…
But if I tracked my stats properly I’d recognize this…
If I spent $10,000 in ads, I’d make $37,000 in return and keep a $27,000 profit.
I don’t know about you but I do notice an extra $27,000 in my account.
It sounds obvious but the reality is the vast majority of people we coach DO NOT DO THIS.
And many of them are former or current top earners.
If you only remember one thing, remember this – If your campaigns are producing a profit, SCALE THEM AS FAR AS THEY’LL GO.
I promise you your campaign will not work forever. So when you have a winner, you must extract every piece of juice from it until it’s completely dry.
Scaling smart doesn’t mean not scaling. It means scaling smart.

Book I’m Reading: Copywriting Secrets – I didn’t expect to get much out of this book. That might sound egotistical or naive, I know. But just being honest.
Well, I was wrong. This is a great refresher on certain copywriting concepts and puts a logical framework around other things that we as writers utilize. When you can identify why you do something, you can systemize it. This is helping me do that. I definitely recommend this book.
Another Book I’m Reading: The Four Hour Chef – I’ve been looking for this book for a while and found it in my friend’s garage of all places. I absolutely LOVE it. And not because I love cooking but because I love learning in the most systematized way possible – which is exactly what Tim describes in this book. This has honestly got me looking at our systems with a fresh set of eyes in an attempt to deconstruct them further and make them even more simple and predictable.
One of the hardest things to do when things start working for you is to recognize what exactly is making it work for you – especially if you’ve been doing it for years. You likely have hundreds or thousands of lessons stacked on each other that are leading to your successful outcome…
But it is equally likely that only 2 or 3 of the things you’re doing are leading to 80% of your success – and each of those 3 things has an 80/20 rule in place. This is a rabbit hole I can’t help myself from as I attempt to distill our formulas into more and more simple chunks.
